VISIONARY INSTITUTE
An ephemeral series of rowan berry necklaces drawings created as quiet meditations on non-extractive ways of inhabiting seasonal time and seeding the futures to come. Gathered, threaded and drawn by hand, each composition is a happenstance and follows the seasonal rhythms of the land rather than the accelerated tempo of production and consumption.
Inspired by forest garden cultivation and the living intelligence of more-than-human communities, the necklaces become small protocols for practising Earth Time: time measured through ripening, decomposition, reciprocity, care and return. Rowan berries, long associated with protection, thresholds and renewal, are assembled into temporary constellations that honour the fragile, cyclical and relational nature of life.
The work is not intended as an object to preserve but as an unfolding gesture of attention—a momentary alignment between body, land and season. Like a forest garden, it values slow accumulation, invisible labour and the countless relationships that sustain flourishing beneath the surface.
Part of an ongoing ART as Land Practice, Quicken Lines re-enact temporal imagination: one rooted not in extraction or urgency, but in the patient cultivation of reciprocal relationships with the living world. It asks how simple acts of gathering, threading and drawing might become quiet protocols for becoming Future Ancestors.
