VISIONARY INSTITUTE
A ritual of paper-cutting (wycinanki) and the anointing of pages from found and unwanted books with well-aged herbal oils (herbal macerates). These randomly found discarded books are collected not as obsolete objects of technology but as materials of composting value for the evolving Living Library of the Multispecies Visionary Institute. They become devices for wild-crafted technologies: Pluralis Hedralis.
Through slow, processual ritual or anointing and cutting, text is transformed into pattern, opening spaces of absence, translucency and possibility. Cut pages become porous: air moves through them, light passes across them, letters overlap, dissolve and reconfigure. The book as a monolithic techne shifts from a fixed vessel of knowledge into an artefact that is alive—a performative score of waving, weaving and becoming.
Part artwork, part ritual and part collective performance, Pluralis Hedralis is an ongoing ART as Land Practice, where books undergo a process of cultural composting. Rather than preserving knowledge as static archive, the work invites its continual transformation through touch, gesture, plants, oils and shared participation. In doing so, it cultivates a living library of hybrid artefacts that gathers, re-ritualises and reanimates communities, allowing new forms of multispecies imagination and common world-making to emerge.
