Voynich Series, Customs House Gallery, South Shields, UK, 2017-2018
This show dedicated to drawing, showcases abundance of drawings that came from an imaginative response to the Voynich Manuscript and used the Voynich Method to conjure visions of a future world to come, a world of multispecies entanglement and proliferation. They contained marks understood as a language, whose voice spoke in a multitudinous, polymorphic, and polyphonic expression. This is an intuitive language of art, familiar yet strange, more akin to weird, sensuous organic communication more naturally familiar than the spoken word, belonging to something deeper, more precise than descriptive representation.
